Hair Growth Tips

Based on the individual, the hairl will grow ½” to 1” of hair per month.  Below are a few tips to assist with the hair growth process.

  • Trim your ends – you should trim about 3/4 “every 3 months to maintain a strong baseline.
  • Oil your ends – oils provide a layer of protection from environmental and styling damage.
  • Conceal your ends – cover ends with protective styles.
  • Scalp care – this will impact the rate of hair growth and the health of your hair fiber. When you take care of your scalp, you are ensuring that blood and nutrients can easily flow to the hair follicles which help minimize shedding and hair loss.
  • Hair growth vitamins - if you do not eat balanced meals or you are in an intense period of stress or trauma, you might not be getting the proper amount of nutrients you need to grow healthy, long hair. If that is the case, your body will shut down your hair growth first and redirect nutrients and energy to the organs that need it most, which can leave you vitamin deficient. If you think you might be vitamin deficient, you could be a solid candidate for supplements, but make sure to first check in with your doctor.
  • Washing your hair with cold water at the end of your shower can give an added boost of hair-growing power. Cold water lays down the outer layer of your hair more smoothly, which helps prevent moisture loss, snags, and heat damage. You only need to do it for a few seconds, but this one extra step can make a huge difference over time.
  • Condition, condition, condition. Condition should be your best friend as it replace the lipids and proteins inside the hair shaft as well as seal the outer cuticle.
  • Cut back on heat tools to prevent damage.
  • Stay away from bleach as it opens the cuticle of your hair strands, causing significant drying and breakage your hair.
  • Use gentle, microfiber towels to prevent breakage.
